I believe that you shouldn't have to walk through your adoption journey alone.

Your Foster Care + Adoption Mentor

When we adopted our kids from foster care, I realized how little guidance there was for prospective adoptive parents. Finding the information I needed took countless hours of searching, and even then it wasn't tailored to our specific situation.  I promised myself that I would make it easier for other adoptive parents to get the information they need.

Over the past few years, I have helped thousands of people learn more about adoption by sharing tips and personal experiences on my youtube channel. As my comment section and inbox flooded with more questions about foster care and adoption, I realized there was a need for even more personalized help. This is why I started Adopt Informed!

I'm a mom to three adorable kids via adoption! For our family, adoption was "Plan A" and it was something I had dreamed of doing for quite a while. While we originally wanted to adopt internationally, we decided to pursue foster care adoption and I'm so glad we did!

2.

My husband Nick and I got married in 2013 after dating throughout college. The night we met was Campus Christmas...I was dressed as the train conductor from Polar Express, and he was dressed as Papa Elf...let's say it wasn't love at first sight, but we developed a very close friendship that eventually developed into our love story!

I love traveling more than anything, and this picture was taken in my favorite place I have ever visited...Scotland! It is my dream to one day own an AirBNB in Scotland that I can visit each summer and rent out the rest of the year. Not sure it will ever happen, but how cool would that be?

When I was in college, I did my student teaching at a school in the Dominican Republic. Right after Nick and I were married, we moved there as missionaries/teachers. We lived there for three years, so we were able to learn Spanish, meet some really great people, and have a little bit of adventure.

I'm a huge Disney fan. Growing up, I went to Disney World many times, and as an adult I continue to go every couple of years if possible. We also recently went on a Disney cruise which was magical! When I can't be on a Disney vacation, you can find us watching classic Disney films on our family movie nights!

One thing most of my friends know about me is that I'm a huge research nerd. I honestly love learning new things, and finding answers to questions. I research and plan our family vacations so much that it's basically a hobby. I especially love researching about foster care and adoption so I can help more families like yours!

How I can help you:

I will save you time.

You shouldn't have to spend hours of your time scouring the internet for bits and pieces of somewhat relevant information. I will draw on both my personal experience and my years of researching and studying adoption to provide you with the answers to all of your questions.

I will work for you.

Unlike social workers who are employed by the state or an agency, I work solely for you. I am invested in helping you make the best decisions for your family. Because I take on a limited number of clients, serving you will always be my top priority and you will receive personalized support.

I will listen without judgement.

I understand that every family has their own complex and unique needs. I will listen to your concerns and respond with empathy and encouragement. One of my number one goals is that you feel comfortable sharing with me so that I can better assist you on your adoption journey!

I will be honest with

you.

I promise not to sugar coat what adoption is like, but I also promise not to completely terrify you about it either. I will share stories from my own experience as well as the experiences of other adoptive parents so that you can have a realistic picture. I will also be honest about which path I would take if I were in your shoes.

I will help you move forward.

As much as I love to chat with you, my goal isn't just to have an enjoyable conversation (although I'm confident we will!). By the end of our call, you will have practical tools you need to move forward on your adoption journey. My goal is that after our call you feel empowered to take the next step for your family!

Are we a good match?

We are a good match if you are comfortable with faith being a part of our conversation.

I am a Christian and my faith is a huge piece of my adoption story. I am still happy to work with you if you are not a Christian, but just know that the topic could come up.

We are a good match if you are open to options other than infant adoption.

I have not adopted an infant, and I am not as familiar with the process. I prefer to work with families considering adopting through the foster care system and/or adopting toddlers or older children.

We are a good match if you are still in the first few years of your adoption journey.

I love to work with families who are either hoping to adopt or who brought their child home less than two years ago. I frequently help families who are  just beginning the process and need help with finding an agency, prepping for home study, deciding on a placement, etc. I also love to work with parents who recently brought their child home and want help with the transition.
